Kauai Coffee Fair Trade Committee Distributes Over $78,000 to Support Local Organizations
Kauai Coffee is proud to announce the distribution of more than $78,000 in Fair Trade premium funds to local organizations across Kauai. This year, the Kauai Coffee Fair Trade Committee has continued its commitment to empowering and enriching the community by supporting a diverse range of local initiatives and organizations.
A vital aspect of Kauai Coffee's Fair Trade certification is the distribution of Community Development Funds. These funds are generated through a small premium paid by buyers of Fair Trade-certified products. The premium is then invested into a Community Development Fund managed and owned by Kauai Coffee employees.

"The idea is to empower employees to use the development funds to address their families' and surrounding communities' most pressing needs, such as childcare, community infrastructure, education, food security, health & sanitation, health services, housing, other community services," said Emma Shinsky, Sales and Marketing Coordinator and Fair Trade Committee President. “This year, recipients were chosen via an application review process conducted by the committee and voted on by all non-management members of Kauai Coffee Company. We are so grateful to the numerous applicants and everything they are doing for the Kauai community,” she continued.
By distributing these funds to local organizations, Kauai Coffee aims to make a positive impact on the lives of Kauai residents and to support the efforts of organizations that are making a difference in the community.

- Boys and Girls Club
- Kumano I Ke Ala O Makaweli
- Hale Opio Kauai Inc.
- Kauai Northshore Food Pantry
- The Koloa Early School
- The Kekahu Foundation
- Kauai Independent Food Bank
- Life's Bridges Hawaii
- YWCA Kauai
- Hawaii Children's Theater
- Malama Kauai
- West Kauai Heritage Center
- Ohana Christian Fellowship
- The Waipa Foundation
- Salvation Army
- Catholic Charities
- Kumu Cupboard
- Kauai Economic Opportunity Inc.
- Child Family Services
- St. Teresa School
- Ho'omalu Ke Kai
The total donations amount to $78,850, with an additional $2,000 dedicated to scholarship awards.
