Irish Cream Coffee Roll Recipe
Kauai is also known as the Garden Island, and even though it's a lush shade of green year-round, springtime is especially beautiful in Hawaii. The rainy season is nearing its end, and fragrant white blossoms will soon blanket the coffee trees on our Kalaheo Estate. It's also the time of year when one of our favorite seasonal coffees returns. Irish Creme – our 100% Hawaiian Coffee with a hint of added Irish Cream flavor is available for a limited time beginning on March 13!
Irish Cream is a sweet and creamy liqueur that is a favorite for many. It is usually made with a blend of Irish whiskey, cream, sugar, and other flavorings like vanilla or chocolate, so it pairs well with coffee. Our smooth and delicious 100% Hawaiian coffee is elevated with the addition of all-natural sweet cream and vanilla flavoring and is a nod to the classic coffee companion.

Welcome the new season with a taste of something familiar – these soft, sweet, and delicious Irish Cream Coffee rolls are packed with flavor and are a delicious treat to savor alongside your favorite Kauai Coffee. Bake a batch, fill up your cup, and taste paradise!
Ingredients
(makes 12 large rolls or 14 smaller rolls)
Dough
- 1 1/3 cups milk (warmed to 110 degrees Fahrenheit)
- 1/2 cup granulated sugar
- 4 teaspoons active dry yeast (2 packets)
- 5 cups all-purpose flour, plus more for dusting surfaces and rolling pin
- 2 Eggs
- 1/2 cup butter, softened
- Pinch of salt
- 1/2 cup Homemade Irish Cream coffee creamer
Filling
- 1/2 cup butter, softened
- 1/2 cup granulated sugar
- 1/4 cup cocoa powder
- 1 cup chocolate, finely chopped or grated
- 1 tsp. vanilla extract
- Pinch of smoked sea salt
Frosting
- 1 8 oz. block of cream cheese
- 1/4 cup Kauai Coffee, brewed
- 2 1/2 cups powdered sugar
- 2 tsp. cocoa powder
- 1 tsp. vanilla extract
Instructions
- Start making the dough by adding the sugar and active dry yeast to the warm milk. Mix gently and set aside for 10 minutes until the mixture looks foamy.
- Add the dry ingredients and eggs to a large bowl or stand mixer. Combine with wet ingredients and knead by hand or with a dough hook until it is well combined and elastic (about 5-10 minutes)
- Lightly oil a separate bowl, place the dough inside, cover, and let it rest for 60 minutes or until it has doubled in size.
- While the dough rests, make the filling by combining the softened butter, sugar, cocoa powder, and vanilla extract in a small bowl.
- Once the dough has risen, sprinkle flour on your work surface, rolling pin, and dough. Roll the dough into a rectangle shape, keeping it as even as possible.
- Spread the filling evenly onto the rolled dough and sprinkle with chopped chocolate.
- Roll the dough into a log starting from the short side of the rectangle.
- Cut the dough roll into 12 rounds and place into two prepared round baking dishes or one large baking sheet.
- Cover and set rolls aside to rise for 30-60 more minutes or until they are about double in size.
- While the rolls rise, prepare the frosting. Mix softened cream cheese, powdered sugar, coffee, and vanilla extract in a medium bowl and heat your over to 350 degrees Fahrenheit.
- Drizzle the unbaked rolls with 1/4 -1/2 cup of Homemade Irish Cream coffee creamer before baking.
- Bake the rolls for 20 to 25 minutes or until the center is set. Allow to cool, and top with frosting before serving.
