Celebrate National Coffee Milkshake Day
If the sweltering midsummer temperatures across the USA have you craving a cool and creamy treat, mark your calendars for National Coffee Milkshake Day on July 26th! Milkshakes, as we know them today, have been consumed to cool off for more than 100 years. Did you know the first printing of the word 'milkshake' was in 1885? At that time, milkshakes were considered a 'healthy' tonic or an eggnog-like cocktail made from shaking eggs and whiskey together. In the early 1900s, the term milkshake referred to wholesome and sweet beverages made with chocolate, strawberry or vanilla. Ice cream was added later as the popularity of soda fountains and malt shops increased across America. Celebrate and beat the heat with your favorite version of this chilled and caffeinated confection on July 26th.
