I have a friend who has a coffee roaster. He roasted these beans and it turned out great.
These beans roast to a nice chocolate brown and we especially like that they are from Hawaii.
We have been getting green Kauai Coffee beans for many years now. We enjoy the fresh roasted flavor and being able to determine our own roast (light/medium/dark). Our friends and family can't get enough when visiting and we sometimes even share if we have just finished roasting. The folks at Kauai Coffee treat us like we are a part of their Ohana - and that's how we feel. Mahalo for all you have and continue to do!
It looks like if you give less than 5 stars your review doesn’t get posted, so here goes the short version of my review. Worth it once for the novelty or a gift to a home roaster that will never make it out to Kauai. Aside from that way overpriced, can get 88+ score coffees elsewhere for half the price.
It’s “good” coffee, and don’t want to take away from that. It tastes every bit like a Hawaiian coffee, but upper mid-tier. If you frequently roast your own coffee you know about places to get consistently 88+ score unroasted beans for far less. It’s worth the money as a 1 time thing or a gift to a friend that roasts, but if you are looking for something to keep buying, pass on this.
If you want Kauai coffee specifically, you would be better off going for their roasted Blue Mountain, Peaberry or Barrel Aged.
